THE LATEST

August 21, 2007

The 2007-08 campaign is just around the corner. We made great strides last season and we look forward to continue to build on our modest success. Our schedule is very challenging, but our team is ready to embrace that challenge.

We will open the season at Duquesne on Nov. 9. It’s the first of three straight on the road to begin the season. On Nov. 14 we will travel to Charlottesville, VA to face the Virginia Cavaliers who are coming off an outstanding season. On Nov. 17 we will face the defending Ivy League champion Penn Quakers.

Our home opener is Nov. 20 against La Salle. It’s the first of two home games in non-league action. We will close out the month of November at home against Navy. Sandwiched between the two home games is an in-season tournament. We are excited to be a part of the Philly Classic (Nov. 23-24), which will include Drexel, Loyola (MD) and Robert Morris.

December will bring five tough road contests, before we close the calendar year in California, in the St. Mary’s College Tournament.

The month will begin at Madison Square Garden against MEAC rival Hampton. We will then travel to American University and VMI before breaking for exams. We will then head into the Christmas break with games at Northwestern (Dec. 20) and Illinois-Chicago (Dec. 22). The non-conference portion of the schedule will then conclude with our trip to the West Coast to participate in St. Mary’s Tournament. In addition to the Gaels, Furman and Cal State Fullerton will also be part of the tournament.

The schedule provides more then its share of challenges, but that is by design, as we believe that it will best prepare us for the rigors of conference play in the MEAC.
